0:09 Speaker A: Oh, my God. Speaker B: You've been here for three weeks putting this thing together. Speaker C: Yeah, Three weeks of constantly sunburn. Speaker A: So pretty tough. Speaker A: I mean, the team that does that sometimes, they're the unsung heroes, you know, the ones that we don't see their faces, but when we see the result, everything works perfect for the diversity. Speaker A: To choose this type of locations, of course, you have to come here in advance and do a location scout.

Speaker A: It's not just the hike or the dive or deep water that you can find a lot of times, but you have to have the right providers that are going to supply everything you need to set up. Speaker A: So it's not like we're bringing everything from the other side of the world. Speaker A: We get local stuff. Speaker A: El Nido is cliff diving paradise. Speaker A: Everywhere you look, there's cliffs, there's beach, beautiful water. Speaker A: That's all the things we look for when we want to go cliff diving.
1:01 Speaker A: It's going to be a really nice spirit. Speaker A: It's the best conditions probably that we have for the start of the season. Speaker C: All right, last crew, let's go. Speaker A: When a location like this, I mean, it's as beautiful and as much as we like it, it's very tricky to set up. Speaker A: Like, we had a team ahead of time come over and set up all the safety precautions.
1:28 Speaker A: So just access the cliffs, even if it's just you're gonna see them just standing there. Speaker A: And it's a small place to get there. Speaker A: It takes a long time.
2:13 Speaker C: We have three different diving spots where it's not just about the dive spots themselves and how the athletes are getting up. Speaker C: It's about camera positions, it's about ladders. Speaker D: The camera concept in the Philippines was really a challenge, as we always want the best possible angles to cover the sport. Speaker D: The rigor needed to build platforms for the camera guys to have stable footing on the cliffs. Speaker D: And it was not easy to bring the equipment up to their positions.
2:41 Speaker D: To be a camera operator at the Red Bull cliff diving event, you also need to climb and you must not be afraid of of heights. Speaker D: Also, standing in the heat for several hours is not easy and super demanding, but we had an experienced crew on site. Speaker C: It's about, you know, getting people to places, and therefore they were super busy for the last three weeks.
3:15 Speaker A: We use local materials, we try to source whatever is around here so that but it can integrate to the environment. Speaker A: It's as good for the locations as possible. Speaker A: I mean, this really is cliff diving paradise, so we want to keep it that way.
4:06 Speaker C: Many, many parts and tools and things are coming from local stores. Speaker C: All those rafts you can see were built locally from the local helping hands and companies that set that up here on site. Speaker C: Obviously other things, like special tools we need from Europe were brought in with regular hand luggage and our travel bags. Speaker C: There are not tons. Speaker C: We ship from A to B and from B2C. Speaker C: And therefore it's amazing to see what the riggers can do with a hammer with a couple of ropes and some local bamboo.

5:24 Speaker A: We're as far as possible from, you know, from. Speaker A: From the city, you know, we're in the middle of nowhere. Speaker A: Anything that we need, there's a lot of equipment we're moving around. Speaker A: And it's really cool. Speaker A: It's really cool to see how the team really works too, to make all that happen.

8:39 Speaker A: You know, this is another thing that you have to work with whatever you have in the area. Speaker A: You know, you get local materials, you build, you integrate as much as possible. Speaker A: But it's also something that takes a long time. Speaker A: And remember, the platform has to be solid, so we cannot improvise. Speaker A: You know, these divers are doing such big dives that they really need a stable and solid platform.
10:47 Speaker E: Easy and straightforward. Speaker E: The first part is two sections of ladders. Speaker B: Okay. Speaker E: Then Manfred is up there. Speaker E: And from there there is a rope all the way to the platform. Speaker F: Just clip. Speaker B: Clip. Speaker E: Exactly. Speaker E: You always keep at least one carabiner clipped onto the rope most of the time. Speaker E: Both. Speaker E: Unless you reach a knot where you have to clip out and clip in again just one by one. Speaker E: We prepared a via ferrata for them. Speaker E: So they are jumping into a climbing harness here.
11:14 Speaker E: And it's a 10, 15 minute climb to the platform. Speaker F: Yeah, it's the harder part for sure. Speaker F: Like, I'm not a climber, but I love diving, so it's worth it to climb. Speaker E: Yeah, that's the real cliff diving.
