0:01 Speaker A: Oh,. Speaker B: I, like, saw the rock wall and I was like, this is it. Speaker B: Anyways, first one out of the way, so that's cool. Speaker C: It's every rider's dream to win this event. Speaker C: This is a pretty pivotal year, right? Speaker A: There's so many rookies. Speaker D: My first rampage, I was 18 years old.

0:26 Speaker D: I was lost. Speaker B: It's a lot to take in, but. Speaker E: They're not holding. Speaker F: The thing I'm most nervous about all of it. Speaker B: We are currently on the 2014-2015 Red Bull rampage site, building our lines.

0:53 Speaker F: We're at the 20161721 site. Speaker F: I'm so stoked to be here. Speaker F: I'm overwhelmed by how beautiful this place is. Speaker F: It's almost like a coliseum. Speaker F: The most challenging part is probably no past experience. Speaker F: I've never done something like this. Speaker F: Full T2B. Speaker F: The craziest things I have in mind, back to back to back to back to back. Speaker A: It's been a long time coming.

1:18 Speaker A: I'm excited, super excited. Speaker G: There's a lot of people that watch Rampage in France, and this year I'm the only French guy. Speaker G: So this is more stress. Speaker G: I almost feel young now. Speaker G: I'm like a rookie but not a rookie, but I'm for sure rookie on the hill, so I'm trying to take any advice I get from the Legends. Speaker C: You know, this has always been a hard platform to get into.

1:43 Speaker C: Four rookies in the men's field and five women in the women's field. Speaker C: It's going to shake things up a lot. Speaker C: I just can't wait to see what they put together. Speaker C: This is the 19th edition of Red Bull Rampage. Speaker C: There's multiple generations now just backing up. Speaker D: This little bit here, digging for Finley Kirschman. Speaker A: The first year I came to watch a rampage was 2015, and we happened to be camping next to Graham.

2:10 Speaker D: He wasn't much higher than my hip back then, and him and some of his buddies came over to say hi and we took some photos, let them ride our bikes around and stuff. Speaker D: This is Finley right here in the red shorts. Speaker D: I told him then I'm like, well, if you ever get in here, I'll be here for you. Speaker D: So I wanted to be a man of my word. Speaker D: And here we are. Speaker A: He's been my favorite rider for as long as I can remember, and he reached out to me, so I was ecstatic.

2:37 Speaker D: Happy with that. Speaker A: It wasn't too big of an impact. Speaker D: Back in 08 was my rookie year, and it was a lot for me to take in. Speaker D: I had done a handful of events before that, but nothing like this, you know. Speaker D: That's another reason why I wanted to help Findlay here and just make sure that he's not just like physically prepared, but mentally prepared as well. Speaker A: It's really trippy to be around those guys. Speaker A: They were all in Rampage the first time I came here when I was like 8 years old.

3:02 Speaker A: Some of the boys were riding before I was even born. Speaker F: That's why they want us. Speaker F: Better be careful with that boom. Speaker G: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Speaker G: I would never expect that we could have rain on the rampage week, but we just keep smiling and working. Speaker G: The rain actually helps for building wind wise.

3:27 Speaker G: I just try to not think about it and just do what I can do. Speaker B: Todd's got an air horn. Speaker B: That means we got to get off the mountain and skidadle out of here. Speaker F: I bought a tarp last night. Speaker F: Hopefully nothing gets washed away. Speaker B: Bring out your surfboards. Speaker B: Get rid of your bike.

3:56 Speaker E: Okay. Speaker B: My pistol squats coming in here. Speaker A: Those three days at the gym. Speaker B: Yeah, those three days I sweat the gym. Speaker B: My hopes and dreams for this week make a top to bottom run. Speaker B: I mean, everything that's on my line is pretty out of my comfort zone in a way. Speaker B: Like, it's like things I like to ride but like four times bigger. Speaker B: So we decided to hit Brandon's drop. Speaker B: That's definitely the feature I think I'm most scared of for sure. Speaker B: I'm teaming up with cj, Kirsten and Vin.

4:22 Speaker E: Do you like our Kurt snorky rig? Speaker E: We're borrowing all of Kurt and Alex's tools. Speaker E: They're human spirit. Speaker E: The top drop, it's intimidating for sure. Speaker E: It's going to be the most challenging part on the line out here. Speaker B: It's completely different than anywhere else you can ride. Speaker B: And also it's so hard because there's no trees. Speaker B: So you can't tell actually how big anything is. Speaker E: Bike's on sick though.

4:47 Speaker E: So nice to be on a bike and not on the shovel. Speaker H: Learning how to manage the process of testing your own features. Speaker H: You don't want to crash out here. Speaker H: The process is something I'm always learning from. Speaker H: And Rampage is one of those places where it puts all that to test. Speaker B: Perfect. Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Speaker B: Beautiful.

5:12 Speaker B: Yeah, perfect. Speaker E: Really can't train for Rampage. Speaker E: You can get bike time, but mentality wise, like, it's pretty niche.

5:49 Speaker B: Yeah, I'm ready. Speaker E: Ready? Speaker H: I'm ready. Speaker F: Ready. Speaker E: Okay, give me your other one. Speaker B: I like saw the rock wall and I was like, this is it ice. Speaker B: This is my end. Speaker B: But the scary is like I have to do that again. Speaker F: So I live down Here for the winters. Speaker F: Living out here gives me an advantage because I'm just so used to all the riding and all the big drops and super steep technical stuff.

6:16 Speaker F: I've already hit the biggest drops at like 24 last year and then the 2023 venue as well. Speaker F: Here I'm just trying to find the biggest one at this site. Speaker F: I'm going off of Ethan's double drop lip, but we're knocking the middle lily pad all the way down to one big one. Speaker F: Right now we have that measured roughly around 70 to the knuckle. Speaker F: Day one, we did basically all hands on the drop.

6:43 Speaker F: Just trying to stack the wall for that because that's going to be the hardest thing and then try and manage it as best as we can. Speaker F: But at the end of the day, I got no clue what I'm doing. Speaker C: Sometimes there's a lot of outside pressure and internal pressure, and I feel like it comes down to mindset. Speaker G: This is Marseille. Speaker G: Marseille colors. Speaker G: It's like a replica from the soccer team in my town.

7:10 Speaker G: I always thought about being a free rider, but coming from a city, it was always obvious that it was going to be and I've been working hard to be here. Speaker G: I feel like Rampage is the last level of the game when you play, it's here now.

7:47 Speaker C: My advice, if you're not having fun, make it fun. Speaker C: It's a hard task to accomplish, but it's definitely doable. Speaker C: You know, he's building this ridiculous drop that I'm kind of scared of just looking at it, but maybe for him that's having fun. Speaker G: I don't know if there is a good strategy. Speaker G: We're trying to keep Smiley. Speaker H: It may be Hannah's first time at Rampage, but she knows this terrain super well.

8:14 Speaker H: She's always the one sending the most technical out the gate lines. Speaker E: When I'm preparing to hit something new for the first time, I like to visualize exactly how that feature is going to go. Speaker E: The speed, where my body position is going to be, how I'm going to pop all the little details and try and just like visualize success.

8:44 Speaker B: That was so perfect. Speaker E: That was nice. Speaker E: It went exactly as I imagined, which is what you want. Speaker E: So sick. Speaker E: Actually, that's the, like, brand new feature. Speaker E: Like, we fully built that from scratch. Speaker E: So to build that and test it. Speaker E: Feels so good. Speaker E: Yeah, pumped. Speaker E: Only two features left to take off on the line. Speaker E: It's so sick. Speaker G: Good job. Speaker E: Thank you. Speaker E: Perfect. Speaker B: I got cleared by physio yesterday. Speaker B: They were like, if you're good to ride, your head's not hit, so we can't stop you.

9:09 Speaker B: And I was, like, sick. Speaker B: Feeling good, all things considered. Speaker B: Should have seen the other guy. Speaker E: Oh, confidence on everything. Speaker B: I'm excited for finals. Speaker B: I'm really nervous as well. Speaker B: Hopefully we can get it done. Speaker E: Right now, it's so daunting because I've had maybe, like, half an hour on the bike in total. Speaker E: If things go smoothly, then I'll be super stoked for finals because I love my line. Speaker E: Like, I'm really proud of it and the work we've done, it's just riding it now, so.

9:36 Speaker G: So. Speaker B: Come on, Janelle. Speaker B: Just ride your bike. Speaker H: Yeah. Speaker F: There we go.

10:16 Speaker A: That feels good. Speaker B: Oh, my. Speaker D: God. Speaker F: We measured it to 69 to the knuckle.

10:42 Speaker F: I went 92. Speaker F: Definitely going to be going a little bit slower for these next couple hits and getting ready for game day.
