0:00 Speaker A: Foreign. Speaker B: I'm Elliot Jackson. Speaker B: I'm Rob Warner and we are here at red bull rampage 2025. Speaker B: Rob, give me a little bit of a lowdown. Speaker B: What's the format? Speaker B: What's going on? Speaker B: How many people are here? Speaker C: Well, I haven't been here for two decades and to walk up into this amazing valley and see what being built. Speaker C: You cannot believe the scale of absolutely everything.
0:27 Speaker C: Everything. Speaker C: It's actually mind blowing. Speaker C: A beer, 12 women. Speaker C: Each rider brings a team of two diggers or builders. Speaker C: They have about a week. Speaker C: First week, two weeks they're here. Speaker C: The first week is spent digging, building these lines we're seeing now. Speaker C: And now we're here at the start of the second week and the riders are starting to drop in, which is quite nerve wracking to watch hitting these drops for the first time. Speaker C: And we know tomorrow the riders are gonna start moving further up to the bigger drops.
0:55 Speaker C: So that's the Goblin, that big rock there. Speaker C: And Lemoine, Thomas Lemoine is like, I couldn't see exactly where, but if he's coming anywhere near off the top of that, which I think he is, then I literally can't believe it. Speaker C: It's a lot to take in, actually. Speaker C: It's like, wow. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker C: You know what's coming, it's going to be spectacular. Speaker C: There's nothing like it. Speaker C: It's incredible. Speaker B: There's nothing like it.
1:20 Speaker B: And we are going to go speak to some of the riders and crew of Red Bull Rampage. Speaker B: Adolph Silva, you were injured here in 21, but dug here in 2016 for Andreou. Speaker B: What's it been like coming to a. Speaker B: That, like everyone else has ridden. Speaker B: How are you kind of choosing your lines? Speaker D: Yeah, like you said back in 2016, I dig here, so I kind of knew what was around here and yeah, just. Speaker D: Just coming here knowing that most people already knew where to go, you know, it's a bit.
1:48 Speaker D: It was always a bit more challenging, but at the same time, since I was here back in the day, digging, I kind of knew what it was here and I had an idea of where I wanted to end. Speaker B: What are the things that go into choosing a drop? Speaker D: Just find a good size. Speaker D: It's not too huge, not too pl. Speaker D: You know, and then just good enough to like have this roller here, give a big push and then just go. Speaker B: If you, like, have everything planned out, you, like, put some rocks for. Speaker D: Yeah, so I think I did a couple in runs already.
2:16 Speaker D: And then just like by dropping in and stuff, I put some rocks there where it's kind of like where I'M gonna stop braking so I'll like, I'll be breaking to those rocks, not fully braking, but just slowing down. Speaker D: Then from there just let go. Speaker D: And then here my idea is to have go slow enough there so I can give a big push here. Speaker D: I guess I like pushing into. Speaker D: Into ramps. Speaker D: So just give a big push and then hopefully we make it.
2:44 Speaker B: Aiden, this is your first time at Rampage. Speaker B: Tell me about how you're feeling. Speaker B: Tell me about your line a little bit. Speaker E: Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good. Speaker E: As the ride days come, it's definitely getting a little bit more stressful just knowing that I gotta ride all of it. Speaker B: Tell me about your thought process here. Speaker E: Yeah. Speaker E: So this feature was Ethan's double drop in 2021. Speaker E: So we've completely taken the whole double drop aspect out of it and stacked a knuckle kind of right at the end of where his lily pad shot him off of.
3:14 Speaker B: So you're going to jump the whole thing? Speaker E: Basically, yeah. Speaker E: And there is no lily pad so there's no option. Speaker B: We're here at Aiden Parish's drop. Speaker B: Rookie this year in 2021, Ethan Nell dropped and you can kind of see a bit of a flat part. Speaker B: He had a double drop here. Speaker B: Aiden decided he's going to build up the lip and jump the entire thing. Speaker B: I think it's about 70ft. Speaker B: Yeah. Speaker B: This is Rampage. Speaker B: How does it feel to be back at Rampage?
3:39 Speaker F: Second year stepped me back. Speaker F: Just going to be a definitely a bit more learning curve. Speaker F: Again, different site, so just getting used to the different terrain and not as many gnarly things to be built here. Speaker F: It definitely is a different skill set. Speaker F: But I had a very good teacher in Connor McFarlane last year to teach me how to do a thing which was very much needed. Speaker F: But we're getting there. Speaker F: The boys are killing it. Speaker F: So we'll get through bigger tricks, bigger gaps. Speaker F: Just try and make it excel really as much as you can and just still make it look smooth and get to the bottom.
4:04 Speaker B: Awesome. Speaker B: Well, really, really great luck. Speaker B: Can't wait to watch you ride again. Speaker G: Cheers, bud. Speaker B: Well, you got the hose, I got the ho. Speaker H: We're just finishing up the landing of this hip and the next drop they're calling it the Mohawk is a sevenux old drop. Speaker A: Yeah. Speaker H: But it looks like a mohawk with. Speaker H: Because there's Jackson Tallis and Finley doing it. Speaker H: So they both look. Speaker H: If I was riding, I would be like, no. Speaker H: But they're all good apparently so.
4:29 Speaker B: Well, I mean, yeah, like, I mean, I would expect you chaos to be riding this. Speaker B: What's it like to dig here? Speaker H: It's mad, actually. Speaker H: I've never dug here before. Speaker H: Well, not a rampage, so it's a sick experience. Speaker H: So much work. Speaker H: But you're just looking over and you're just seeing people create these mad things. Speaker H: So it's quite nice you were here with like, all of our mates are digging as well. Speaker H: Like, there's so many riders digging as well. Speaker I: Yeah. Speaker H: And we're all just like, we're digging and we're not even gonna touch our bikes on it.
4:56 Speaker H: But it's sick, honestly. Speaker H: And I can't wait to watch Finley ride it. Speaker J: So. Speaker H: Yeah, Finley is just Finley. Speaker H: He's so chilled, honestly. Speaker H: He's probably barefoot digging right now again. Speaker H: He's just like at one with. Speaker H: Yeah, I don't know. Speaker H: But he's on it. Speaker H: Oh, yeah. Speaker H: He's chilled as hell. Speaker H: And. Speaker H: Yeah. Speaker H: Yeah. Speaker H: As soon as he touched the bike yesterday, he did like a couple of. Speaker H: Like a couple of tests and instantly he was like. Speaker H: He had a tiny bit of nerves. Speaker H: And now he's like, all good and.
5:21 Speaker H: Yeah. Speaker H: So hopefully some more riding this afternoon. Speaker H: And y. Speaker B: So good to see you. Speaker B: Great luck. Speaker B: Okay, Finley, first time here, first hits. Speaker B: How do you feel? Speaker K: Feel really good. Speaker K: I'm glad that the wind's holding off. Speaker K: I wish it was a little bit more consistent to kind of let us do our thing and not be super worried about it. Speaker K: But we're getting it done and having fun. Speaker B: Do you just enjoy the riding out here? Speaker K: Yeah, I just enjoy the riding. Speaker K: Honestly, I would be out here anyway, regardless if I was in rampage or not.
5:50 Speaker K: And like, years past, I just spent my falls out here, so it feels right at Kim. Speaker B: Tell me, tell me, what are you doing? Speaker B: What are you doing? Speaker L: I'm doing a no edit video right here. Speaker B: So are we. Speaker L: You guys aren't going to edit yours either? Speaker B: No. Speaker L: I didn't realize you were doing something. Speaker L: I was just going to say hi, but now here I am in the middle of your no edit video. Speaker B: Give us. Speaker B: Give us one. Speaker B: Like one little bit of information.
6:15 Speaker B: What makes this one special? Speaker L: What makes this one special? Speaker L: Oh, for this venue right here, I think four rookies. Speaker L: That's rad. Speaker B: That is good. Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Speaker L: Finley, Aiden Parrish. Speaker L: Hayden Zablotny. Speaker L: Thomas Lemoy. Speaker L: Focus, focus. Speaker B: It's so good to see you, Cam. Speaker L: Good to see you guys for sure. Speaker B: Henberg, first hit. Speaker B: So I mean, you just came out of the podcast studio.
6:40 Speaker J: How you feeling? Speaker J: Good. Speaker I: I'm so stoked, actually. Speaker I: The wind is not really affecting us up here in this Little pocket. Speaker I: So we're able to get some test hits on these upper features, which is what we have left to ride, so it's perfect. Speaker B: So you guys have done everything up until this point and then you have this stuff and one more thing to tick off. Speaker I: Yep. Speaker I: I'm just missing also the very last jump, but, yeah, just that and the first one. Speaker B: So do you feel like you're on track? Speaker I: Yes, for sure. Speaker I: Yeah. Speaker I: Making the most of the windows that we have.
7:07 Speaker B: Okay. Speaker B: Janelle, how are you feeling? Speaker B: Like, is this first hits for you? Speaker I: First successful hits for me, that's for sure. Speaker I: Was feeling pretty unconfident at the top. Speaker I: And even, like, the first two hits, I was not feeling very good. Speaker I: But yeah, I mean, Kirsten and Vinny are so, like, hyping me up and. Speaker E: Yeah, yeah. Speaker I: First six went good, so I'm pretty stoked about that. Speaker B: What does it feel like? Speaker B: Like everyone riding in the same kind of zone. Speaker B: Do you think that, like, that is what pushes you guys 100%?
7:33 Speaker I: I think, like, even just watching Hannah just grease the canyon gap was just insane. Speaker I: And then Casey following her after that, and then even just. Speaker I: Yeah, like I said, Kirsten and Vinny, just the good vibes, and that's contagious. Speaker I: So it's pretty sweet. Speaker B: Has we are this. Speaker B: We're currently on your line. Speaker G: Yep. Speaker B: This feels so exposed. Speaker B: Like, how did you. Speaker B: How did you find this path? Speaker G: So I think walking up, scoping, I was already peeping this drop here from Brad's line, and a couple of the girls have done it before.
8:04 Speaker G: There was no trick jump. Speaker G: And then Robin was kind of keen for a trick jump, so I was like, decided to stay on it for longer for a trick jump and this. Speaker G: And as I was going up, I saw the scratcher, which I really liked, and then got to the top. Speaker G: And Darren kind of pointed out the sort of the gap over what is now Cammy's shoot. Speaker G: So I was like, that's pretty cool. Speaker G: That ended up being a solo build. Speaker G: That was a big one. Speaker G: And then we added in, like, a additional sharky out of that into the screen, which is all quite tight.
8:31 Speaker G: And I like pretty free riding. Speaker J: So. Speaker G: Yeah. Speaker G: And then this one now, I, like, ended up just collabing with Robin and Casey all the way down to the finish. Speaker G: So. Speaker G: Nice. Speaker G: A few extra teams and it's got a few more drops and a motorway I've jumped at the end, so. Speaker G: Yeah. Speaker B: Okay. Speaker B: So we just did an interview with Haz. Speaker B: She was talking about a scree shoot. Speaker B: She said it was the most Fun thing. Speaker B: But I look at it, she's coming all the way off the top. Speaker B: No berm. Speaker B: Like, steeper than anything you can imagine.
8:56 Speaker B: If you fall off of here, like, you can't fall off of here. Speaker B: This is wild. Speaker B: Like, it shows you how skilled, gnarly, like, the mindset that these women have coming into this year's Red Bull Rampage. Speaker J: It feels amaz after hitting rock for five days. Speaker J: Pretty fired up to be on the bike again. Speaker G: Yeah. Speaker B: I mean, this venue's like, been here. Speaker B: You've ridden here.
9:21 Speaker B: Did you change your line a bunch? Speaker J: Kept the same top stuff and then from like halfway down, switched it up. Speaker J: Just want to scare myself and do something different this year. Speaker B: So what do you think's going to be the most scary? Speaker J: I mean, really, all of it's always scary, but it's all the same, man. Speaker J: It's good. Speaker J: I'm excited. Speaker B: Yeah. Speaker B: I think most stoked for, like, just to put down a full run.
9:48 Speaker J: Yeah. Speaker J: Just see my two boys at the bottom. Speaker J: Yeah. Speaker B: Well, good luck. Speaker J: Thank you, brother. Speaker B: I always think, like, how many, like, swings of a pick do you think you do in the two weeks of Rampage? Speaker A: It depends if you a stoner or not. Speaker B: Why? Speaker B: Why is that? Speaker A: I have some friends who smoke. Speaker A: I don't smoke. Speaker A: I feel like I pick more. Speaker B: You're more active. Speaker A: Yeah, I think so.
10:13 Speaker B: So what is the plan for today? Speaker A: Trying to ride as much as possible with the conditions given. Speaker A: I feel like conditions are way better than expected, but some stuff are not done yet. Speaker A: So I'm just hoping to like, kind of warm up on this, go on top and ride as much as possible. Speaker B: First hits. Speaker B: How did it feel? Speaker B: Like, how. Speaker B: How do you judge the speed? Speaker B: Like, what was your process? Speaker M: Yeah, I mean, I rode this in 2021, but I didn't remember any of the speeds.
10:40 Speaker M: And everything kind of gets built different every year, so I kind of remembered a little bit. Speaker M: But yeah, this setup jump or setup, step down for the jump is like, actually kind of big. Speaker M: So it's kind of worth a gander. Speaker M: But yeah, it was pretty chill. Speaker M: I went to the basement on the jump. Speaker M: First hit. Speaker M: But yeah, it's a pretty simple standard trick jump setup for the bottom. Speaker M: So it's fun to ride. Speaker M: It's just not ideal conditions. Speaker M: Pretty gusty. Speaker M: So just kind of taking the time.
11:06 Speaker M: But it feels good to just, yeah. Speaker M: Do something for today because, yeah, today's been kind of a wash. Cal straight. Speaker B: I mean, we're here first hits. Speaker B: What do we have Luke Whitlock here? Speaker B: You know, this feeling better Than anyone. Speaker N: You know, getting these first hits in is after, like, not being able to. Speaker L: Oh, going deep. Speaker M: Oh, that's not good. Speaker N: Oh,. Speaker L: That feeling when you see the rider go away. Speaker N: That's awesome. Speaker L: And you're like, oh, good. Speaker M: So close.
11:31 Speaker N: But getting these. Speaker N: You have so many, like, nerves built up from all the dig days from the previous year. Speaker N: You know, the whole season of getting here, the weirdest part has been, like, walking up to zinc. Speaker N: It is these building. Speaker B: Yeah. Speaker N: And I, like, go to grab a rake, and I'm like, right, yeah. Speaker L: Oh, wait, I can't do that, you know, because it's. Speaker N: It's, you know, it's been. Speaker N: It's been like 20 years of, like, digging with zinc on the hill, so. Speaker N: Or whoever. Speaker N: Right. Speaker N: And I feel weird not building because I'm still building so much things.
11:58 Speaker N: So it's kind of. Speaker N: That has been the weirdest part. Speaker N: We'll see, you know, when it comes, you know, game time for everybody. Speaker N: But I'm, you know, definitely less stressed. Speaker B: Kyle, thank you so much. Speaker B: Good to see you. Speaker A: Cheers. Speaker B: It's weird that the camera's here, the microphone's here, but you were somewhere else. Speaker C: But we arranged to meet at the top of the women's start. Speaker C: It's actually. Speaker C: It's. Speaker C: I'm not going back up there. Speaker B: That's what I said. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker C: Have you been up there? Speaker B: I went up there in 2015 and I said, no.
12:23 Speaker B: I, like, scooted my way through. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker C: It's wild, right? Speaker C: My bum was on my bum all the way back down. Speaker C: It's like you can definitely fall to your death anywhere on the footpath back down. Speaker C: It's actually horrendous. Speaker C: It's basically what the men were doing two years ago. Speaker C: That's sort of it. Speaker C: So, you know, we've been talking about the progression stepping up, for sure. Speaker C: And, I mean, we've all had an eye on it. Speaker C: There's never been progression like this. Speaker C: Like, this is.
12:48 Speaker C: This is like. Speaker C: This is like a human being setting foot on the moon for the first time. Speaker C: That's how big that step is. Speaker G: Okay. Speaker C: That might have been a bit much.
