Speaker C: It is staring your fists straight in the face. Speaker A: Five 10s. Speaker D: It's a competition. Speaker D: It's a world series. Speaker D: You have to do your best dives. Speaker A: Yeah, buddy.
0:26 Speaker A: That's how you do it. Speaker B: He's like no other sport in the world, taking a deep breath and making that leap. Speaker A: That is what you call a riff entry. Speaker D: A perfect 10 is what all the divers are looking for at Red Bullcliffe Diving World Series. Speaker B: They happen so few and far between. Speaker B: Everything has to be right.
0:51 Speaker D: We train so hard, we practice so much the technique so that when we perform in front of the judges in competition, we're gonna do the best to get that. Speaker C: A combination of a strong takeoff, dial and grace in the air, and then sliding through the water without any splash.
1:23 Speaker A: The rip master. Speaker A: Time and time again. Speaker D: The perfect dive is what every athlete wants to accomplish. Speaker A: Catalan Preda on fire yet again. Speaker D: You try to refine your technique and the execution to the max and hopefully manage to put it together in those three seconds. Speaker D: You're in the air. Speaker D: Probably the most difficult thing to do in the sport, but a few people managed to accomplish that.
1:52 Speaker A: Wow. Speaker A: Absolutely drills that one. Speaker D: You know it's a 10. Speaker D: You know it's gonna get that score. Speaker D: When you see the dive, when you hear the sound of the impact, you know it's a 10. Speaker D: I mean, there is no question about it. Speaker C: It's a feeling like no other. Speaker C: You put all of this work into the dives individually.
2:20 Speaker C: So you spend so many days and so many hours in the pool over the years training, and then when it all comes together in that three seconds, the feeling is just undescribable. Speaker C: And it feels incredible. Speaker A: 4 Tens in this final dive. Speaker C: 4 Tens and a 9.5. Speaker C: I mean, there's no way that you can be disappointed with that.
2:47 Speaker B: There is a difference, obviously. Speaker B: A 10 on a difficult dive and a 10 on an easy dive. Speaker B: On the difficult dive, it has to be powerful, has to be fast, and you need to make it look easy. Speaker A: Tens across the board by all five judges. Speaker A: That's a record. Speaker A: Five tens in a row.
3:13 Speaker B: The easy dives. Speaker B: Your line has to be perfect, your toe point has to be perfect. Speaker B: You're thinking about such a minuscule details that are being looked at very closely by the judges. Speaker B: So it's completely a different thing. Speaker B: You need to be thinking about different things during the whole dive. Speaker B: Here we see Rhianna.
3:38 Speaker B: I haven't seen her put a foot Wrong on her easy dives in a couple of years now. Speaker B: So she's a fine example to look at when you're watching a fantastic required dive. Speaker C: It seemed to work last year. Speaker D: If you ask me, I don't see any problems with that. Speaker B: You don't know what's going on. Speaker D: It looks pretty good. Speaker B: Overthinking things is really a big problem.
4:03 Speaker D: I don't think that was a 10, but it's a good dive. Speaker D: You step onto the platform, and you want to have a good takeoff right there. Speaker D: I'm just maybe jumping a little bit far out. Speaker D: The line in the air is okay. Speaker D: The position of the arms, you see, it's a little bit bent. Speaker D: I mean, I can see that. Speaker D: The judges, of course, can see that water entry is okay. Speaker D: I'll give it a high score. Speaker D: But, you know, it's a little bit far away from a 10, because from the beginning, that right takeoff is not there.
4:29 Speaker D: I'm just pushing a little bit far away. Speaker D: You can see the distance from the platform. Speaker D: And of course, the judges are gonna. Speaker D: Are gonna realize. Speaker B: This is in 2012. Speaker B: So maybe our idea of what a perfect 10 has changed over the. Speaker B: Over the time because the sport has progressed. Speaker C: I think it looks pretty close to a 10 to me. Speaker C: But when it's a tight battle and the energy's there, sometimes they're more prone to throw the tens or, you know, just enjoying the moment as well.
5:01 Speaker C: But I like it. Speaker C: I don't want to criticize Orlando. Speaker D: Only a small number of divers have scored a 10. Speaker D: To be honest, if you even ask the divers, they will find something wrong with their dive anyway. Speaker D: It's really hard. Speaker D: It's a combination of too many things, not just the technique.
5:26 Speaker D: It has to be the right moment. Speaker C: It feels very special to be one of the select few women that have scored. Speaker C: Tension. Speaker A: That is a record for the women. Speaker A: Never been done before. Speaker A: Unbelievable.
5:54 Speaker C: It's a nice feeling, but I don't know. Speaker C: I don't really know how to explain it. Speaker D: I just do it. Speaker A: Yeah. Speaker C: It just happens.
